Mar 11, 2022

The Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport have partnered to host the AMAC Economic Opportunity and Policy Forum at the Washington Marriott Metro Center from March 21–22, 2022, in Washington, DC.

Overview

The forum welcomes aviation industry leaders, government officials, and business representatives to Washington, DC, to exchange ideas, share entrepreneurship best practices and seek innovation in diversity and inclusion initiatives throughout the aviation and aerospace industries.

Additionally, the forum offers insights on airport economic opportunities, outlines AMAC’s federal legislative agenda, and includes panel discussions with key Congressional and Administration leadership, plus updates on the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise programs.

Agenda

Reform, Strengthen and Modernize—A New Approach to Business

The COVID-19 pandemic forced almost every business, including federal agencies, to change its operation. The “new normal” demands thinking beyond numbers, focusing on economic development and business growth, so more people can achieve success and build wealth, workforce, and business diversity. Hear from industry leaders on why that is important to the success of the airport industry and what you can do to prepare yourself, your team, and potentially your clients for success.

Luncheon—The Power of Speaking Out–Leveraging the Legislative Process for Business Success

Why is legislative advocacy important to the people and businesses aligned with AMAC’s mission? How does engagement in public policy assist in driving supplier and workforce diversity and inclusion efforts?

National, Regional and Local Business and Employment Opportunities

Airports are economic engines not just for cities but for entire regions. Airports provide millions of jobs across the country in various roles, from engineering to human resources to food service to recruitment and contracting. Airport representatives from small, medium, and large airports will share business and employment opportunities for minorities, women, small contractors, and suppliers beyond the ACDBE/DBE program (e.g., PFC-funded projects, daily goods/services procurements), plus upcoming AEC, concession, and other non-federally funded contracts.
